Journaling

The Maternal Journal sessions is a six week course to start (or continue) a creative journal practise. Many of us have aspirations to keep a journal, maybe you did as a child or you have many good intentions but empty notebooks? Enrolling in these sessions can give you the accountability and structure you need to kick start your journaling practice for the new year. But don't worry, you don't need to be a writer. Think you're not creative? Not a problem! Each session is designed to guide you to tap into your own meaning and self expression, whatever that might be.

 

Why journal? - Journaling has many positive benefits for our mental health and well-being. It’s a valuable practice for anyone, not just writers and artists, and journaling can be a super power during times of big change in our lives, like becoming a parent.

 

But what is journaling exactly? - It's like having a personal space where you can jot down your thoughts, feelings and experiences, almost like a private chat with yourself. It’s about finding clarity in your thoughts and processing emotions from moments in life you might want to spend more time with – both good and bad. Journaling is flexible – you can use anything from a fancy diary to scrap pieces of paper, or even your phone’s notes app. No need for special equipment! You can do it anytime, anywhere. Whether it's early in the morning, late at night, on the bus or during naps, journaling fits into your life. Don't worry if you've never tried it before; you don't need to be an artist or a writer, we're all naturally creative and you'll discover your own unique style along the way.

We kick start the course with an introduction to journaling and focused time to work on our own journals. How much or how little you share with the group is completely up to you, a journal is a very private thing and there is absolutely no pressure or obligation to share what you have created.

Course details

Maternal Journaling Courses and Workshops are held regularly at locations in Zurich and Aargau.

6 Guided Maternal Journal sessions x 2hrs (online or in-person)

Access to a range of art materials during this session

Your own journal and a selection of basic materials to get you started
